The Gas Purchase Agreement (GPA) signing ceremony was held on 2 March 2022 at the Sunway Hotel Big Box, Nusajaya Johor. The partnership is to produce Compressed Bio-Methane (Bio-CNG) to be injected into Gas Malaysia’s natural gas distribution system supplied by Kulim's palm oil mills, namely Tereh and Sindora located in Kluang, Johor. The gas purchase agreement was formalised between Gas Malaysia's wholly-owned subsidiary, Gas Malaysia Virtual Pipeline Sdn Bhd, and Kulim Greenergy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kulim.

This agreement was signed by En. Shahir Shariff (Commercial Director of Gas Malaysia) with En. Wan Adlin Wan Mahmood (Deputy General Manager of Innovation and Sustainability, Kulim) also witnessed the signing ceremony of the agreement was En. Mohd Faris Adli Shukery (Managing Director of Kulim) and En. Ahmad Hashimi Abdul Manap (Chief Executive Officer of Gas Malaysia Group).

The partnership is part of its diversification strategy to explore other avenues within the gas value chain to further strengthen its position in the industry and one of Kulim’s group efforts to realise its commitment to the circular economy as part of the “Trash to Treasure” initiatives. The green gas venture is a positive step toward supporting the nation’s aspiration as Gas Malaysia and Kulim Greenergy leverage their respective expertise for their long-term growth.
