SEDENAK, JOHOR, 17 May 2022 – Kulim (Malaysia) Berhad (“Kulim”) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (“MoU”) with Greenheart Produce Pte Ltd (“Greenheart”) to explore a joint venture for the development of a smart farming project in Sedenak, Johor.
This project will utilise a Greenhouse Smart Farming System with climate management, biological pest control and smart irrigation practices which will commence at the beginning of 2023.
Kulim, which was represented by En. Mohd Faris Adli Shukery, Managing Director of Kulim said, "In line with Kulim’s strategic thrust to position itself as a flagship company for National Food Security, this venture is one of Kulim's efforts to develop sustainable agriculture and increase its competitive advantage in the agricultural industry, and in turn contribute more to the state’s economic growth.”
Echoing the sentiment and equally excited about the opportunities the MoU presents was Mr. Richard John Price, Chairman of Greenheart.
“This collaboration is a positive step towards having a significant footprint in agriculture supply for domestic and international markets and also addressing the food safety and security requirements for the state of Johor as well as Malaysia.”, said Faris.
