Step 1
Materiality
Stakeholders are increasingly concerned about the impact of climate risks and our economy. Thus, it is important for Kulim to prioritise its plans in reducing GHG emissions.
The management of effluent and wastewater is important to ensure levels are within legal and regulatory limits set by the Government.
Responsible labour practices are crucial to Kulim as it is a labour intensive industry. This is a growing interest among stakeholders to uphold strong labour practices.
Kulim must adopt a vigilant stance to protect the workers’ health and safety. This should be the main priority to ensure the wellbeing of workers are safeguarded.
As Kulim frequently deals with suppliers and vendors, a responsible governance system is fundamental in driving ethical conduct.
As Kulim deals and interacts with various suppliers, smallholders and third parties throughout its supply chain. Areas such as procurement and contracting needs to be transparent.
Kulim’s ongoing initiative to increase the output of Renewable Energy through the conversion of methane is important to reduce GHG emissions. The energy must be managed properly to avoid wastage.
Proactive community investments are important to ensure that the livelihood of the local communities are not neglected or negatively affected.
Kulim must ensure strong compliance to regulations to reduce environmental and social impacts in order to protect stakeholders’ interests.
Kulim is expanding its business by tapping into agrofood. At a pivotal time like this, Kulim must ensure the business model remains resilient to avoid disruption, significant losses and damage.
